MBA Positions

There are many career opportunities for those who possess an MBA. If you are obtaining an MBA through a part-time or distance learning program, however, locating them may be somewhat more difficult. Here are some tips to find the MBA career of your dreams.

Take advantage of school resources

Often, many MBA students are able to find jobs before they even graduate by accessing the resources offered by their school. Corporate recruiters from top companies often attend job fairs hosted by schools. The career services department at some schools will also provide information about available opportunities and about various companies. In addition, taking advantage of workshops on how to craft your resume and prepare for interviews can give you an advantage over the competition.

Network

One of the most valuable aspects of the MBA program is that it provides countless opportunities to connect with potential employers. Whether it is through classmates, professors, your internship, or your dissertation research, take advantage of every opportunity to connect with those who could help you find a great job after graduation.

Use the Internet

Opportunities to participate in internships and job fairs may be somewhat limited for those who are not pursuing a full-time MBA, but that does not have to mean that finding a great job is impossible. Try typing "MBA jobs" into a search engine, and you will get lots of results. There are online job boards where employers who are specifically looking for MBA graduates post available positions. Some sites allow MBA graduates to post their resume, which could help you connect with suitable employers.

Expand your horizons

If you live in a small town, restricting your job search to your immediate geographic area may not be an extremely wise tactic. Expand your search to include other areas of your state, the country, or even the world to explore all of your career possibilities.

Ask around

If MBA jobs are anything like those in other industries, many are never even advertised. If you know somebody who works with a company you are interested in, let them know you are seeking a position. Drop off your resume to companies that interest you. They may not be looking for anybody right at that moment, but if a position does come up, they may just call you in for an interview.

With patience and persistence, most MBA graduates are able to find an MBA career that is both very profitable and satisfying.
