Summary:

Our client is an established leader in the food production industry with growing operations in the southeastern US. We are seeking a seasoned Division Controller responsible for managing financial controls and analysis, operations planning, and performance reporting for bulk processing plants. He/she will drive quality improvement processes; analyze new product introductions, and develop financial forecasts. This is an exceptional opportunity to impact a solid, privately held company with an expanding global customer base.
The position will be based either in Atlanta, Georgia or Northern Arkansas-- and will report to the Corporate Operations Controller. This role requires a passionate and effective individual who will interface with the corporate management team and cross-functional groups. He/she will implement and maintain internal controls/systems to safeguard company assets and manage business risks. The ideal candidate will have top-line financial control management experience in poultry/meat processing or a related food production background. Local candidates will be given strong preference.
Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the work of general accounting, cost accounting, and payroll.
• Assume responsibility for correct and accurate accounting classifications of all expenditures and documents, including capital. Supervise monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Consolidate capital assets, maintenance, and division operating budgets.
• Direct month-end and year-end closings on a timely basis and in accordance with GAAP.
• Directs the preparation of statistics for periodic and yearly financial statements, including the preparation of charts and graphs showing progress, conditions and results.
• Maintain proper accounting internal controls/systems to assure the proper safeguarding of company assets. Perform payroll payoff audits, physical inventory counts, and other such audit tests as required.
• Act as immediate contact with corporation’s independent auditors on accounting matters.
• Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the division and makes specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
• Review capital requests against approved budgets for availability of funds prior to commitment, calculates ROI and exercises accounting controls to ensure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized and are in compliance with accounting policies.
• Implement, monitor and maintain the 30-point Ergonomics Program as well as other Safety Programs, practices and policies.
• Build and lead an effective financial organization including selection, training, supervision, and measurement of employee performance. Supervise one or more accountants and general clerical staff.

Qualifications:

• 5-7 years financial experience in a manufacturing/food production environment.
• Completion of an accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA)
• BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA a strong plus.
• Experience in poultry/meat processing facility, preferred.
• In depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost analysis, etc.
• Financial forecasting and risk assessment.
• Month-end closing process.
• New product pricing and costing relevant to achieving targeted margins.
• Projecting capital spending and savings associated with capital spending.
• Microsoft Office applications (strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Business Intelligence analysis and reporting tools like SAP Business Objects, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

COMPENSATION:
Attractive base and bonus structure, $80K-100K, plus comprehensive benefits package. No relocation assistance available.
