4. The Controller is responsible for all accounting and tax related functions of the organization. In addition, this position calculates and presents Physician Compensation, prepares Benchmarking Reports and is the primary contact for discussing financial related information with the physician Board of Directors.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fiscal Responsibility: Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and continually evaluate the organizations fiscal function.

2. Financial Information: Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets and financial reports that will assist the CEO, Board and other senior managers in managing their responsibilities.

3. Financial Policies & Procedures: Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Practice.

4. Cash Flow Management: Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs of the Practice.

5. Banking Management: Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.

6. Risk Analysis/Financial Decision Making: Provide the CEO and top management with strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers; maintaining cost effective employee benefit programs; assisting in the negotiation of managed care contracts; evaluating new business ventures, technology advances program changes; and undertaking an advisory role for all issues potentially placing the Practice at financial risk.

7. Financial, Tax and Risk Management: Recommend annual budget for CEO & Board approval and prudently manages the organization\'s financial resources within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations consistent with corporate goals and objectives. Oversee the continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.

8. Financial Advisor: Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective problem solver; be viewed as approachable and as a mentor to people in financial issues.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in finance, accounting or healthcare administration is required with an MBA with current CPA/CMA license strongly preferred.

Technical Skills: Must have broad working knowledge of computer systems with emphasis on Word, Excel, billing systems, practice management, EMR and other programs related to the position. Must have excellent math skills, be able to summarize financial and billing system data and make board presentations in a way that assists key decision makers in financial matters.

Communication Skills: Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, physicians, visitors, vendors, government agencies/third party payors, patients and the general public. Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional staff.
